List of Non-Acidic Fresh Fruits

Finding fresh fruits that are non-acidic or have low acidic properties is important for people on a special pH diet and pertaining to medical conditions that cause pain and discomfort from acid-containing foods. While most fruits have a good amount of acid, there are a number of alkaline (low-acidity) fruits to enjoy on a daily basis as well as fruits with low acidity to eat in moderation. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Bananas

Bananas are one of the more popular non-acidic fruits to eat fresh. Aside from the low acidity level, bananas come with a myriad of health benefits, vitamins and minerals. Bananas contain a high level of potassium and protein, both of which are important in children and adults. Eating a banana a day significantly improves weight maintenance, energy, kidney health, eyesight, ulcers and other cardiovascular conditions.

Dates

Dates are a non-acidic, fresh fruit with a long list of vitamins and minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, vitamin A, B6, B-complex and other vitamins and minerals in smaller quantities. Each date contains 23 calories, 2 gm of protein and 73.5 gm of carbohydrates. Eat them whole and fresh or place them in your yogurt, granola, oatmeal or cereal.

Raisins

For a low-fat and low acidic snack, choose to have a handful of raisins. Raisins are actually a dehydrated grapes and, when eaten fresh, provide you with energy along with vitamins and minerals. While raisins are less acidic than grapes following the drying process, they still maintain most of the antioxidants making them a good choice as far as fruits go. Mix raisins with your cereal, yogurt, granola, salads or rice.

Slightly Acidic

For more fresh fruit choices, consider eating fruits with a very low acidic content as long as they are eaten in moderation. Common slightly acidic fruits include apples, pears, grapes, plums, peaches, figs, melons, all kinds of berries, mangoes, watermelon and pomegranate. Combine these fruits with the non-acidic fruits for more flavor and variety. Eat fresh, blend with smoothies or mix in with some of your favorite foods.
